PhD programmes in apprenticeship allows to be hired by a company with an apprenticeship contract, while enrolled in a PhD programme, in order to develop a research project jointly supervised by the University and the Company, achieving the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the end of the programme.
PhD candidates shall comply with all the provisions applied for students of the same programme, and, if abandoning doctoral studies for any reason, also employment contract will be terminated and vice versa.
PhD programmes in apprenticeship also require candidates to carry out further activities, in addition to those foreseen in ordinary PhD programmes, as to improve their knowledge of corporate affairs. PhD programmes in apprenticeship can be annual, biennial and triennial.
In order to be hired with an apprenticeship contract by a company based in Piedmont, the candidate must be aged less than 30 at the moment of the employment.
The local government of Piedmont region supports apprenticeship and has adopted a specific directive relating to advanced training, in order to promote the competitiveness of Piedmont social-economical system and foster the emergence of demand for knowledge and innovation by the companies.
The regulation on this matter is governed by the Legislative Decree no. 81
of 15th June 2015
