HOW TO REGISTER/ENROLL


Selected candidates must proceed for enrolment within 15 days from the publication of the rankings, by sumbitting to the Doctoral School the documents listed below; failure to do so may entail the loss of the right to admission.

The deadline for registration is final and absolute.

Selected candidates who, for reasons beyond their control, can not enroll at Politecnico di Torino within the deadline, should immediately get in touch with the Doctoral School (scudo@polito.it) in order to secure their position and, by the same deadline fax to +39 011/0906098 all the documents requested for the enrollment:

  • Proof of payment of 160.84 euro (courses admission fee). In the event that the candidate does not proceed with the enrolment, this amount will not be refunded.
  • Declaration that justifies the impossibility of enrolment within the deadlines and expected arrival date;
  • Application form and the summary sheet of the data entered during the application process (both printable from Apply@polito.it), duly filled in and signed;
  • Duly signed copy of a valid ID;
  • Copy of the Italian Social Security Number - Codice Fiscale (where available);
  • The certificate of English language proficiency, as requested in art. 2, paragraph 1 section b of the call for admission of the Politecnico di Torino;
  • Only for students who have obtained their II level Academic qualification abroad: degree certificate and related transcript of exams, as referred to in Art. 2, paragraph 2 of the call for admission of Politecnico di Torino; these documents will then have to be submitted in original or certified copies of the originals released by the university that issued them or by the competent Italian representation in charge, in accordance with the provisions in force;
  • Only for candidates who will be awarded their Master Degree in Italy by October 31st, 2014 but after the expiry date of the public call deadline (as in Art. 2, paragraph 1, section a of the call for admission of Politecnico di Torino): certificate or self-declaration* of Master Degree award, with grade, date and place of obtainment.

    *Students coming from extra-EU countries can use self-declaration only for data and facts which can be attested by an Italian public adimistration body, and only if in possession of a valid resident permit, which must be attached to the self-declaration.

All the candidates who have secured their position must proceed with the enrolment by and no later than December 15, 2014.


Enrolment with scholarship

Candidates selected for a position covered by a scholarship shall submit the following documents to the Doctoral School:

  • application form, retrievable on the candidate's personal page of Apply@polito.it duly filled and signed;

  • duly signed summary page of the data included in the application form, available on your personal page of Apply@polito.it;

  • the certificate of English language proficiency declared during the application process;

  • duly signed copy of valid ID;

  • copy of the Italian Social Security Number (codice fiscale);

  • Registration at the Italian National Institute for Social Security (INPS) to obtain the separately managed social security coverage
    The registration to the separately managed social security coverage is made on line on the INPS (Italian National Institute for Social Security) website (www.inps.it).
    In order to log-in students need their own Italian Codice Fiscale to be used together with a special PIN code/ codice PIN given directly from the INPS.

    Those who do not manage to register for the separately managed social security coverage within the deadline for enrollment, can do it later on and give the Doctoral School the proof of their registration.

    INPS toll-free number is 803.164.

  • data related to an Italian bank account to receive the scholarship (IBAN code, bank name, branch office, full address);

  • proof of payment of 160,84 € tuition fees.

    Payment can be made:
    • at the Doctoral School or at the Central Student Office by P.O.S. device;
    • at the post office by transfer on post current account No 259101 addressed to Politecnico di Torino -– Gestione Tasse Scolastiche –- Servizio tesoreria C.so Duca degli Abruzzi, 24 - 10129 Torino.

  • Only for candidates who will be awarded their Master Degree in Italy by October 31st, 2014 but after the expiry of the public call deadline (as in Art. 2, paragraph 1, section a of the call for admission): certificate or self-declaration* of Master Degree award, with related grade, date and place of obtainment.

    *Students coming from extra-EU countries can make use of self-declaration only for data that can be attested by an Italian public adimistration body, and only if in possession of a valid resident permit, which must be attached to the self-declaration.

  • Those who have obtained II Level degree abroad will also have to submit:
    • II level degree certificate with final score (where applicable);
    • Transcript of the examinations taken during I (Bachelor's) and II (master's) level degrees with related score.


Whether written in a language other than Italian, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish or German, these documents must be translated into one of these languages and certified as authenticated copies either by the University that issued them or by an Italian delegation in charge.


Enrolment without scholarship

Candidates selected for a position without scholarship must submit the following documents to the Doctoral School:

  • application form, printable from your personal page on Apply@polito.it, duly filled and signed;

  • duly signed summary page of the data entered while applying, available on your personal page of Apply@polito.it;

  • the certificate of English language proficiency submitted in the application procedure;

  • duly signed copy of valid ID;

  • copy of the Italian Social Security Number (Codice Fiscale);

  • Proof of payment of 2.530,42 € (enrollment fees), which can be carried out either in a single or two instalments, as follows:

    - Euro 198,39 at the moment of the registration;
    - Euro 2.332,03 by and no later than 29/05/2015.

    It is possible to ask for tax reduction, according to ISEE/ISEEU indicator (for more information about requirements, modalities and deadlines, please check the Fee Regulation 2014/2015, available at Politecnico website

    Payment can be done:
    • by P.O.S. at the Doctoral School or at the Central Student Office;
    • at the post office on post current account No 259101 addressed to Politecnico di Torino –- Gestione Tasse Scolastiche –- Servizio tesoreria C.so Duca degli Abruzzi, 24 - 10129 Torino.

Supernumerary enrolment

Within 15 days after the publication of the ranking list, candidates recipients of a scholarship funded by governmental, national or international bodies may get in touch with the Doctoral School to request the supernumerary enrolment within the limits of the supernumerary positions available in the PhD Program chosen.

Within 15 days after the publication of the ranking list temporary research fellows assessed eligible for admission may request the supernumerary enrolment within the limits of supernumerary position allocated to them on the call. To do so, they shall get in touch with the Doctoral School and prove they are carrying out activities at Politecnico or other institution.



Takeovers

15 days after the publication of the ranking, a list containing all the positions that have become available due to rightholders' waive of their right to admission will be published, together with the names of suitable candidates eligible for takeover. Candidates who do not proceed with the enrolment within the deadline indicated at the bottom of the same list, will lose their own right to admission.

There will be only two takeover sessions. In the event that some positions are still available after the second takeover session, no further takeover will be possible.




Enrollment to second and subsequent years

At the end of each academic year, each doctorate student must submit to the Academic Board a detailed report about training and research activities carried out. On the basis of an assessment of the credits acquired, the Academic Board decides on the admission of the student to the following year, or to the final examination.

A negative evaluation shall entail the loss of the student's status as PhD Student.

Enrollment to each subsequent year involves the payment of the enrolment fee within the deadlines specified in Fee Regulation 2014/2015.
