PhD candidates can spend terms abroad for training or stage purposes, visiting other Universities, research institutes, centres and laboratories, in Italy and abroad, for a maximum period of 18 months during the three-year term of the PhD programme. This limit is not applicable to agreements with foreign universities and public institutions developing specific and qualified research activities.
PhD candidates with scholarship have the right to receive a 50% increase in the scholarship for the period spent abroad. Ask for the authorization trough your dashboard (Cruscotto) before leaving.

There is also a budget available in 2nd and 3rd year dedicated to each PhD candidates, with or without scholarship for mobility, in Italy and abroad, and/or the registration and participation to conferences and research seminars. This budget is managed by the Departments.
The web page "Missioni on line", available from MyPoli, consulting section "Servizi Individuali", allows you to upload requests for authorization and for reimbursement, as well as find the related documentation.

During the institutional activity, PhD candidates are covered by a policy "Accident" which is valid all over the world, but that is not an health insurance (because it isn't valid in case of illness, but only in cases of accidents contractually agreed). The requirement for insurance coverage is the authorization before departure. Furthermore Politecnico di Torino has recently drawn up a policy called "Mission" with the Company UniSalute, in order to ensure the health care to people authorized going to non-EU countries.
