Courses on transferable skills
Nowadays, a significant attention is paid to soft skills, given their high transferability across several economic sectors and jobs and their high impact factor on the likelihood of professional success.
Soft skills are increasingly valued for their contribution to the implementation of changes and innovations, becoming fundamental features of any professional resume for middle / top management and entrepreneurial positions. Those are a group of skills generally required to the human capital, which lead to high-quality performances and are represented by individual features, attitudes, knowledge and competences.
The ability to communicate and establish interpersonal relationships with employers, colleagues and teams, a problem-solving attitude and planning and scheduling skills are just a few examples of soft skills, actively sought on the labour market.
Given their great importance for the job placement, it is necessary to start developing and enhancing them as soon as possible, even from the university years.
For this reason Politecnico di Torino, in particular Doctoral School, has identified a framework of transferable competences spread across five areas, inside which are offered to all PhD students courses taught in class and, experimentally, distance learning courses realized also thanks to the contribution of Compagnia di San Paolo. The language courses are not considered in this framework.
